Make your own veil. I made mine for 13 dollars. That included the ribbon on the edge, the tulle, the headband, thread, pearling. The almost identical veil in the bridal shop was 300 dollars.

Check out these eco wedding invitation kits from $1.25 each:
http://www.invitesite.com/weddings/All-wedding-invitations.php
Handmade papers, 100% post consumer recycled papers. Really easy. We've specialized in eco , Indie and DIY for 15 years. And -- have never had anything to do with the wedding industrial complex. We could care less. More interested in beauty and getting paper from wood pulp to the 500 different plant materials paper can be made from.
Papers been made out of trees for only 125 years. Make sure your suppliers are not using old growth forest. The paper industry is much worse than the wedding industry. Can be down right evil.

Great ideas! Another good way to save on your wedding is looking for used wedding dresses either online or at local consignment shops. They have new looking dresses that are half the original price and designer names! I bought a used Maggie Sottero from www.smartbrideboutique.com and it was exactly what I was looking for. Hope you guys find great deals like I did!

I would add to this list - haggle like it's your job. I was able to get ridiculous amounts of stuff thrown in/discounted/etc. Major stuff, like free Viennese hour, a free string trio instead of a keyboard during the ceremony. If you don't ask for a discount, you won't get one, but I got something for free or something extra from EVERYONE. I just pretended that every meeting with a vendor was like a trip to the diamond district, where hard bargaining is the only way to avoid being brutally ripped off. Don't be the "helpless bride" during meetings with vendors - negotiate every contract like you're trying out for the Apprentice!
